Entertaining Presentations

An entertaining presentation is used for the enjoyment of the audience.  Commonly, people equate entertaining presentations with humorous presentations.  However, any presentation with interesting anecdotes or personal heartfelt stories can be entertaining without being humorous.

Entertaining presentations should not cross into the other three genres.  If the organizer of an event has asked you to prepare an entertaining presentation it is usually not a good idea to also try and persuade the audience. Imagine, the father of the bride also trying to persuade the audience that they should support a political party in an upcoming election.  It just doesn’t mix. You can watch a famous commencement presentation by Steve Jobs, the founder of Apple Computer at Stanford University for an example of an entertaining presentation.  The presentation is not humorous yet his personal offbeat stories are interesting and leave a lasting impression of his message.
